"Fundamental Doctrines & Beliefs"

Church Membership
The Membership in an Elim Pentecostal Church is rooted in the belief that if Christ Jesus calls you into His kingdom and you are born again, you are automatically part of His body and church, and are eligible as members and can be received into fellowship. There is no need for any formal course or program to become a member of the local church.

Doctrinal Ordinances
Elim churches uphold specific doctrines and observe certain ordinances, which are essential practices that symbolize and reinforce our faith.

-
Holy Communion: This ordinance involves the breaking of bread and drinking of wine in memory of our Lord's death. It is a profound act of remembrance and thanksgiving for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Through Holy Communion, we reflect on His body broken for us and His blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins, reaffirming our covenant with Him.

-
Water Baptism: Baptism by total immersion in water is a significant step of obedience and public declaration of faith. It symbolizes the believer's identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through baptism, we demonstrate our commitment to follow Him and our new life in Christ.

-
Anointing of the Sick: The anointing of the sick with oil is a practice for bodily healing, following the biblical instruction found in James 5:14-15. It represents the application of God’s grace and power for physical restoration, and it is a tangible expression of our faith in God's ability to heal and renew. This practice is often accompanied by prayer, seeking God's intervention and wholeness for those who are ill.

Doctrinal Beliefs
1. THE BIBLE:
We believe that the Bible, as originally given, is without error and is the fully inspired and infallible Word of God. It serves as the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. THE TRINITY:
We believe in the co-equal and co-eternal existence of the Godhead in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, sovereign in creation, providence, and redemption.

3. THE SAVIOUR:
We believe in the true and proper deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. This includes His virgin birth, His real and complete humanity, His sinless life, His authoritative teaching, and His substitutionary and atoning sacrifice through His shed blood. We also affirm His bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, His heavenly intercession, and His second coming to receive His Church.

4. THE HOLY SPIRIT:
We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. His work is essential in the conviction of sin, repentance, regeneration, and sanctification. Believers are also promised the gift of power through the baptism in the Holy Spirit, with accompanying signs. This empowerment enables believers to fully participate in the ministry of the Church, including its worship, evangelism, and service.

5. MANKIND:
We believe that all humans are universally sinful due to the Fall, which renders them subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

6. SALVATION:
We believe that salvation requires repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Through this faith, the sinner is pardoned and accepted as righteous in God’s sight. This justification, imputed by the grace of God due to the atoning work of Christ, is received by faith alone and evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit and a holy life.

7. THE CHURCH:
We believe in the spiritual unity and the priesthood of all believers in Christ, which together comprise the universal Church, the Body of Christ.

8. THE MINISTRY:
We believe in the ministries that Christ has established in His Church, including apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, as well as the present operation of the manifold Gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the New Testament.

9. THE ORDINANCES:
We believe in the baptism of believers in water in obedience to Christ's command and the commemoration of Christ’s death through the observance of the Lord’s Supper until His return.

10. THE COMMISSION:
We believe that the Gospel addresses the needs of the whole person. Therefore, the Church is commissioned to preach the gospel to the world and to fulfill a ministry of healing and deliverance for the spiritual and physical needs of humanity.

11. THE COMING KING:
We believe in the personal, physical, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory.

12. THE FUTURE STATE:
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment of the world, the eternal conscious bliss of the righteous, and the eternal conscious punishment of the wicked.
